Deschambault swine test station

For almost 30 years, a research station dedicated to the development of the pork sector!

 
Deschambault swine test station was built in 1994 and is owned by CDPQ. It is a 360 place, All-in-All-out, nursery-to-finishing facility.

It is known for an individualized feeding system in particular, as well as for taking meat quality measurements at the slaughterhouse. Recently it also added an individual watering system to the existing facilities.

Originally, the station conducted research mainly on genetic improvement and comparison of pig lines. Today however, it runs several complementary projects simultaneously with each batch of pigs that involve various fields of expertise, according to the different needs of the pork industry.

To date, 39 tests have been completed, which have made a significant contribution to the development of the swine industry. A single test comprises one batch of pigs raised from nursery (weaning) until they go to the slaughterhouse at the end of the finishing period.
