Objectives

Evaluate the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in controlling ambient conditions on the comfort of finishing pigs, zootechnical performance, and energy efficiency.

Specifically:

  • Assess the impact of using AI-controlled ventilation during summer on:
    • Ambient conditions during hot periods (temperature offset due to the building's thermal inertia and ventilation strategies).
    • Zootechnical performance of pigs (average daily gain, feed conversion ratio, mortality).
    • Water consumption and energy efficiency (electricity consumption).

  • Evaluate the impacts of using AI-controlled ventilation during winter on:
    • Ambient conditions (temperature stability and CO2/NH3 concentration levels).
    • Energy efficiency (propane consumption).

  • Conduct a techno-economic analysis of the use of AI in ventilation systems.

  • Disseminate results to transfer knowledge and facilitate the adoption of this technology.
