Objectives

Applying AI to enhance the resilience and sustainability of Canadian pig farms. Technologies will be evaluated in collaboration with industry partners to accelerate and facilitate the adoption of precision farming across Canada.

AI-based tools and systems tailored to the needs of producers for managing sows in farrowing facilities will be developed and tested in this project, focusing on four key areas:

  • Precision insemination for gilts
  • Evaluation of sow body condition using digital vision
  • Impact of social interactions during gestation
  • Detection of farrowing onset and potential lactation issues using sensors
