Objectives

Produce a decision support tool to optimize cull sows accessible to all producers. The tool must be:
  • Realistic: The tool must offer one or more entry scenarios in line with the reality of producers;
  • Flexible: The user should be able to adjust the input parameters of the tool according to his own reality;
  • Right: Predictions of sow performance and estimates of the cost of buying gilts and the selling price of cull sows should be based on sound knowledge acquired through reliable data and rigorous analysis.
