PRRS-Free Zones: A Promising Pilot Project We're Proud to Support!

December 3, 2024
At the CDPQ, we are proud to be part of the implementation of a pilot project aimed at creating PRRS-free zones (Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome) in three regions of Quebec: Bas-Saint-Laurent, Charlevoix, and the MRCs of Montmagny and L’Islet. Producers in these areas are coming together to tackle this collective challenge and improve swine health.

This initiative, led in collaboration with the Health, Quality, Research, and Development (SQRD) team of Les Éleveurs de porcs du Québec, is based on a voluntary and collaborative approach involving producers, PRRS control groups, and regional syndicates.

Running until December 2025, the project is financially supported by MAPAQ as part of the 2023–2026 Territorial and Sectoral Development Program, along with Les Éleveurs de porcs du Québec.

By contributing to this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to the health and sustainability of Quebec’s pork industry. We commend the dedication of all partners and producers involved in this innovative effort !
