¬New project underway at CDPQ ! Towards thriving and green cattle and sheep production

May 1, 2024
Reducing methane emissions in agriculture is part of the collective efforts identified to decrease greenhouse gas production. In this regard, Quebec beef and sheep producers aim to implement actions or changes in farm practices. Their advisors and partners are also committed to this transition.

This project aims to:

  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of greenhouse gas (methane) reduction actions on the farm
  • Develop the skills and tools of advisors to accelerate the adoption of effective actions on the farm
  • Identify what to implement to support producers in adopting these actions

Under the supervision of Frédéric Fortin at CDPQ and carried out with Les Producteurs de bovins du Québec (PBQ), the Centre d'expertise en production ovine du Québec (CEPOQ), and the Conseil pour le développement de l'agriculture du Québec (CDAQ), this project is funded by the government of Quebec as part of the Plan de mise en œuvre 2023-2028 from the Plan pour une économie verte 2030.
